  • A nationally competitive indexed salary schedule - starting at $39,400
  • payment of 85% of Blue Cross, Blue Shield, dental, and major medical insurance premiums.
  • Partial payment of teachers' contributions to the New York State Teachers Retirement System.
  • Salary credit for previous teaching service, related vocational education experience, Peace Corps service, and up to two years of active military service.
  • Recruitment stipend of $3,400 for teachers hired in shortage areas.
  • Full-time tuition reimbursement for Masters Degree at State University of New York (SUNY) rate.
Mentoring and Support
The Rochester City School District offers a side-by-side mentoring and training program for its teachers called Careers in Teaching. Through this program first year teachers attend an orientation session and are assigned a mentor in their school by the principal, as well as having access to a web-based information system. Teachers may also participate and benefit from various professional development opportunities offered through the District so that they may excel as an outstanding leader within our community.
